On Respect for Human Rights and Protection of the Environment
NEW YORKER has an ongoing commitment to human rights and sustainability. As a globally active trading company, we attach great importance to ensure compliance with social and ecological standards in the production of our goods; and we incorporate ethical and responsible practices into our business strategy. - United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)
- OECD Guidelines on Due Diligence for Responsible Supply Chains
We pursue these principles not only within our own business operations, but also transfer these standards to our direct suppliers.
NEW YORKER strives to fulfil its due diligence obligations to prevent environmental and human rights violations in our supply chain through appropriate and effective risk management.
- As part of our defined preventive measures, we conduct regular risk analyses and other event-driven reviews to identify deficiencies in our own business operations and those of our direct suppliers at an early stage. The results from the risk analyses derive our priorities for human rights and environmental concerns.
- If deficiencies are identified by us or reported to us, we approach our immediate suppliers to take appropriate corrective action.
- An important part of risk management is the establishment of an incident reporting mechanism that allows any person to report violations and/or other concerns to management at any time (this can also be done anonymously). Our whistleblower system “NEW YORKER Hints” is available in several languages and can be found here: hints.cloud.newyorker.de
- Through the General Terms and Conditions of Purchase, our direct suppliers are strongly encouraged to implement a similar risk management process for their own suppliers as well
- We document every activity with our direct suppliers and report at least once a year to the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control and publish a report annually, which is freely available on our website
In addition to this policy statement, the NEW YORKER Code of Conduct applies to NEW YORKER itself as well as to our business partners. The NEW YORKER Code of Conduct is an integral part of the General Terms and Conditions of Purchase, which every business partner must accept without reservation.
We commit to enforce this policy statement to the best of our ability so that these fundamental rights will continue to be respected in our own business and by our immediate suppliers.
